Rain
May 18, 2010
There are times when you may feel there is no way…
When you feel like you can’t breathe…
When you don’t know how you got here, but it seems too late to return…
When you hurt and can’t remember not hurting…
When you have lived your life to its fullest, and you are tired…
When you wish you knew what it felt like to be a child…
Don’t forget…sometimes you need to play in the rain.

I love this. “Sometimes you need to play in the rain.” Such a timely, spiritual parallel for us in our life right now.
It was inspired by a chat-conversation I was having with a young girl who’s going through so much trauma right now. She feels her childhood is lost. It was lightly raining and our kids were running and laughing in it. I said to the girl “You know, you need to go outside and play.”
“Play??”
“Yes, PLAY. Be a kid. Play in the rain. Take your brother out there with you. And your Mom. And play together in rain.”
And they did.
And you’re right.
