Daybreak Worship Confessional
June 7, 2009
Good Sunday afternoon! Today was a good day of worship. We had scheduled choir to sing about halfway through our setlist, but at the last minute (literally, a minute before start time), I decided to put them at the beginning. It was an upbeat song, and I felt the flow would be better if we made the switch. Turns out, it worked. Thanks to the sound/lighting/Easy Worship peeps in the back, for your flexibility!
So after the choir piece, which the church loved and really responded to, we started off with:
Love the Lord (Lincoln Brewster) We skipped the interlude that normally comes before the bridge, just to see what it’d sound like…I like the interlude, but we like to do things differently each time, just for fun.
Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone (Chris Tomlin) Is it just me, or does that chorus make you think about all the stuff God has freed you from, as you’re singing it? Even if it’s nothing like drugs or anything real dramatic…maybe it’s just the life we could’ve had, if we didn’t have a Savior! Thank you, Jesus for freeing me from a life of sin and shame!
Scripture/Prayer- Pastor
Special Music- Sarah Richards
No Sweeter Name (Kari Jobe) We added a SWEET bridge to this song that I sang alone. It was the words of the chorus, but set to the music of the “Jesus” bridge. At the end of each line, I would hold out the last word, so it would be the exact length of the the Jesus bridge. Then I continued on into singing “Jesus” two times alone, then the worship team and congregation joined me on the 3rd-8th. WLs: here’s what that segment of the song looked like to the band:
Instrumental Interlude (band getting quieter)
Am7 Dsus D Am7 Dsus D Repeat until LeAnn enters
EXTENDED BRIDGE:
Am7 Dsus D
You are the life to my heart and my soul…
Am7 Dsus D
You are the light to the darkness around me…
Am7 Dsus D
You are the hope to the hopeless and broken…
Am7 Dsus D
You are the only truth and the way…
QUIET!
Am7 Dsus D Am7 Dsus D
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
BAND BUILDING HUGE !!!
Am7 Dsus D Am7 Dsus D
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
CHORUS (2x)
Get it? HAHA
Ok, so it’s hard to explain! You kinda had to be there and hear it, to get it. But trust me, it was good!
And the church just loves this song, so they really lift up their voices! It’s a beautiful sound.
Hope you all had a great day of worship!
Much Love and Singing,
LeAnn

Nice!
So how did the bridge go on LTL? Did the congregation echo real strongly?
I hate that I had to miss today! UGGGHHH!
Yeah, they did! Went well. They follow the WT really well. And then, part of Dad’s sermon was about that passage of scripture. RAD.
Great! God knew. Glad it went well for you. See you soon.
Re Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone – it’s definitely not just you LeAnn.
And the chord chart for the bridge in No Sweeter Name sounds cool…might need to hear it though
You got it, David! Next time I’m in Australia…. oh wait, that could be a while…
