Sunday Set List 040509

April 6, 2009

dbcworshipgraphiclight1Good morning, everyone! Yesterday Wayne and I took the day off, and the youth led our worship service! It was terrific. youthled1They add such a fresh, contemporary flavor to our services when they lead, and it was great! And we (Wayne and I) were going to go up and lead the invitation time, but Pastor Dad said he’d rather it just be an instrumental invitation for that service. YAY!! More contemporary. More today. More relevant. WHY must we make the congregation sing, when they just want to pray, or think, or meditate on the Word they just heard, or concentrate on what God is doing in their hearts at that moment…?!? It was great!

The youth led in a few worship songs, with Wayne on drums, Jason (our band leader) on piano, and Dillon (17) on guitar. The worship team vocals were all youth, including my awesome Lauren (first purple shirt on the left). :) They opened with Not to Us (Chris Tomlin) then Here I am to Worship (Hillsong), and Hosanna (Hillsong). They also did an instrumental of Marvelous Light (Charlie Hall).

They performed an interpretive movement to Chris Tomlin’s I Will Rise…wow, what a tear jerker that was! At the end, they made kind of a cluster, and from the back, slowly lifted one of the kids up above the rest. It was an awesome ending! Lauren was singing every word as she moved. I could really see her heart…and that makes a Mama proud!

They also did  a couple of  powerful skits, and an Easter poem reading. It was special, because the poem was written by our Youth Minister, Dawn Holleman.

Wayne and I are both sick, so it was interesting how it worked out that we had the day off. It was blessing on many levels!

Give your Youth the opportunity to minister in their own ways. It’ll bless your church, and give you a glimpse into their hearts and minds.

Much love and singing,

LeAnn
